Current Brainstorms

There's a reason I don't come in to work at 7:00. Now what was it? Oh yeah, I don't get anything done early in the morning. I am a true creature of the night. It's easier for me to stay up until 5:00 AM that it is to wake up then. I turned my CD alarm clock to near max volume to make sure I got out of be this morning, but it was still 5 songs into the CD before I woke up enough to crawl to the shower.

Dezi has a big week of tests and projects. As such we went out Friday night, but that's about it. I had a whole list of things I planned to accomplish. I didn't make it very far down my list. In fact I managed to accomplish the bare minimum to maintain human subsistence. Maybe a slight exaggeration, but I barely left my apartment Saturday or Sunday. Instead I was consumed with the desire to watch all 22 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5. 45 Minutes times 22 episodes = 16.5 hours of vampire killing fun. I used to make fun of people for watching that show. Then I got trapped. The show is off the air and I'm still trapped.

The box set was a gift from Desiree. It was a thank you present along with a King Cake for the New Orleans trip. I ended up bringing the King Cake to work for Fat Tuesday. A couple of people had heard of the tradition, but most hadn't. The way it works is that if you find a baby/bean in your slice of cake then you are supposed to bring the cake the next time. The guys who made this cake didn't put the baby in the cake and I didn't add it later. I didn't want some unsuspecting victim to need to visit the dentist because they found the baby.

On the side I have been playing some games that my friend Jeff lent me. I thought I'd give a quick review for anyone who is interested. These are all on the XBox.

Kung Fu Chaos - wouldn't buy it, but it's really funny to play. The premise is that you're an actor in an old style kung fu flick and you have to battle your way through scenes. Very quircky humor so I was of course laughing hysterically at parts.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge - Very pretty game, but I never really got into it. It's hard to play and I just couldn't make myself play very much.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - The fighting leaves a little to be desired, but as far as being a puzzle game, it's great. I actually plan to beat this one if I can spend the time to do so.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - This is one Desiree will actually play with me. Probably because she knows the story line. It's a fun game, but relatively easy to beat. However, I'll still play it and run around and "Kick orc bootie."

I have a potential project to work on programming and app for a Palm OS and Windows CE environment. I spent a lot of time last week at Barnes and Nobles trying to decided if I liked any of their books well enough to buy them. I decided not to, but I would still like to get into the guts of programming one of these guys. I guess for that to work I need to acquire one. Well at least if I get paid for the job it will be tax deductible.
