These stinking virus writers are getting smarter. I almost fell for one of their tricks this morning. I opened up my mail program to check my email. On of the dozen or so messages was an email from "management@extreme-geek.com" with a subject line of "Notify about your email account utilization."
This was in the body of the email:
Dear user, the management of Extreme-geek.com mailing system wants to let you know that,
Your e-mail account has been temporary disabled because of unauthorized access.
Please, read the attach for further details.
Have a good day,
The Extreme-geek.com team http://www.extreme-geek.com
Now let me tell you. My first reaction was to get ticked off and so I looked at the attached file. It was a .pif file so I immediately knew to disregard the whole email. It's all very official sounding and I was all ticked off. It was only then that I realized that I am the management of Extreme-geek.com and no one else should be sending emails from this domain. I'm sure it was spoofed, but it still annoys me. What I'm really shocked by is it has a return address to some guy in New Jersey. Not sure if he's the originator, but I think I will let him know that someone is using his email address.
I do have to hand it to them. They are very good at getting people to do what they want them to do. Now I wish they would go play in traffic.
