Turning 29
This is how I spent my 29th birthday. Well actually this plus running around with about 30 junior high youth. My birthday was on Sunday and I have to admit that it was an odd birthday. Not so much for the actually getting older part, but that I felt so much older. My shoulder was hurting on Friday and then I managed to get swimmers ear due to a busted ear drum a couple of weeks ago. While I know I'm in much better condition, I just feel like I'm falling apart sometimes.
The birthday was relatively low key. I had volunteered to go be a sponsor at the Junior High lock-in at Group Dynamix. We had a great time and I actually decided to get up on the high elements. The picture is me crossing on of the elements. I ended up making a less than graceful exit after going through several of the obstacles. I had to pull my self up while sliding along a wire. Awkward? Yes. Funny looking? Probably so.
Dezi has "surprised" me by bringing a birthday cake to the lock-in. I say "surprised" because she asked my permission before she did it. I left about midnight while several of the other counselors including Dezi stayed the night. I made it to work at a reasonable time and proceeded to call the doctor's office to make an appointment about my stupid ear.
I know it's been a while since I posted. I've been keeping myself incredibly busy. Work is going really well. I enjoy the stuff I get to do now. I'm completely geeking out on some aspects. I got to pick up a little .Net to make changes to a reporting service. (Much simpler than I expected) And the big project that I was tasked with within 3 weeks of being with the company has been a success. It's nice to be able to demonstrate what I can do right off the bat, but it sure was stressful to have a tight deadline and not know everything about the system you need to change.
For completely random enjoyment I came across the WikiHow site. It will teach you all sorts of random things. Today's lesson is "How to survive a freestyle rap battle."
