Holipay Spirit
Well the spammers have now officially adopted the holiday spirit.
Today I've received emails from Good Elf, Naughty Elf, and perhaps the most disturbing of all, Perverted Santa.

Grr....
I'm not a happy camper right now. I just lost half of my inbox to an over aggresive virus cleaner. I have everything backed up, but it's just a little annoying. I no longer think as highly of
Thunderbird as I did before. Particularly since it couldn't recover gracefully. Of course I'm not sure if I'm more upset at the virus scanner that couldn't fix the file to begin with.
It wouldn't be such a big deal, but I usually leave a lot of stuff in my inbox.

Catching my breath
I think it's funny that I can go to my Jiu-Jitsu class. Spend an hour and a half rolling around and wrestling. Get home, sit down and it suddenly hits me exactly how hard I've been working. I really have been enjoying my lessons. Unfortunately some of the guys are getting really serious about it and have been taking lessons 4-5 nights a week. So the guys I was measuring myself against have shot leaps and bounds ahead of where I am.
I think martial arts is perfect for me. I push myself much harder and I forget how tired I am when I'm wrestling against someone.
I'm a competitive person. It's just part of my nature. I would throw the controller down and walk out when I got beat at a game. And that's after college. Mature I know.
Thanksgiving weekend was pleasant. Dezi and I stayed in town through Friday. Thursday we went to her grandparents house. I have been told there were 63 in attendance. And I don't doubt it. I'm a little more used to it now than I was, but I still reach my social quota pretty quickly.
Last weekend we went to Quanah. My grandparents where grand marshals of their little town's Christmas parade. We hadn't seen much of my mother's side of the family from the time that we got engaged. It was a nice weekend, but I think it's funny how we seem to be related to at least half of the town.

Vulnerabilities in the extreme
USA Today has a disturbing, but intriguing
article about the status of machines connected to the internet without patching and protecting the system.
They found that a Windows XP computer running service pack 1 could be infected within 4 hours of connecting to the network.
One of their big recommendations is to get away from using Internet Explorer as your web browser. Instead try
Firefox (Which is what I use at home) or
Opera.
