The Preliminaries are Over
This past weekend, Dezi and I drove to Abilene for my brother's wedding. Jeffrey and Samantha were married in a small ceremony on Friday at my parent's house with my mother acting as the offciant.
Jeff and I spent some quality time Friday afternoon working on preparing food for everyone. We grilled steak and chicken for fajitas. After everyone passed through we still had enough for at least that number again. Kinda funny, but typical at the same time.
Shortly after Jeff and Sam got engaged, I started asking Jeff a bunch of questions and he told me, "You don't understand. If it's complicated it's been nixed!" Two weeks ago he told me, "For something that wasn't supposed to be very complicated it sure became complicated."
The wedding was simple, fun, and very them. Sam cried and then tried to stop crying and started laughing instead. It was fun to watch them. I never thought my mom would make it through without crying, but she was fine. Up until the last minute we were still working out some of the details. Dezi happened to have a CD with wedding music in her car. She played the music and took pictures while I worked the video camera. Everyone ate their fill, talked, laughed and had a generally good time. At the end of the day Jeff and Sam were married and that's all that counts.
My dad pointed out that it was all over that it started at 6:00 and everyone left by 8:00. He's hoping that trend will continue in July. I simply informed him that there wasn't a chance. I believe the two weddings are going to be polar opposites. But the important thing will still be that at the end of the day, I'll go home with my wife.
Now if we can only make it to that point.

Fighting Music
I love music. I've never considered myself much of a musician, but I love listening to music. I usually select my music based on my mood. For a pissed off at the world mood I'll put on
Metallica's Black album. For calm and mellow I'll put in anything from
Santana to
Mercy Me to
Garth Brooks. The when I'm feeling just plain ornery I'll listen to
Weird Al,
Great Big Sea,
Bloodhound Gang, or most recently
Parliament Funkadelic.
All that being said I've been on a real kick lately for what I labeled fighting instrumentals. It's orchestral arrangements (usually from soundtracks) that get me going. They include songs from several of my favorite movies.
Star Wars: Phantom MenaceBraveheartGladiatorLast of the Mohicans (Didn't like the movie, but love the music)
Jurassic ParkDisney's
Hunchback of Notre Dame (Sanctuary!)
Far and AwayI'm curious what gets everyone else going.

Linkorama
Just a warning... I've been sitting on some of these for a while...
Tiki DriveMy first thought on this is that we bought 2 giant versions of these at a garage sale for $5 as a joke. Why would I spend $70 to be sheik. If that's even how you spell the word.
Big-Boys.comHas a lot of really funny movie clips and a number of
addicting games. They are usually pretty good about warning you off something you shouldn't look at while at work. This is a site for guys by guys.
T-Shirt Hell (DO NOT OPEN AT WORK)Just be aware. They don't know the meaning of politically correct. While some of their shirts are very funny, most are just flat wrong. I'm amazed at the sick twisted minds who could come up with this stuff much less want to put it on a T-Shirt.

Surreal Life
I've had kinda a crummy day. I stressed out about my cat all day. I had a lot of work to do, but I couldn't throw myself into it, which always discourages me when I have a less than productive day. I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon to remove a mole from my back that he said looked "suspicious." So he'll send that in to have it analyzed. And I got my cat back, but he's still acting puny and I don't know how much he'll improve.
The vet said he probably has a kidney infection and sent me home with antibiotics for him. I'm supposed to take him back to the vet's on monday, but this weekend Dezi and I were going to Austin for a wedding. Fortunately I have a friend that lives in my apartment complex that has two cats of her own and promised to help take care of him for the weekend while we are away. Thank you Leanne.
And while the day hasn't been bad there have just been a lot of bad things happen in one day.

Cat concerns
I took my cat to the vet's this morning. They are keeping him for the day to watch him, but I'm all sorts of stressed out. I have all of these worst case scenarios running through my head. I wish I could put it out of my mind until I have all the information, but it's awfully hard to do.
It's a new vet. So far she's very nice and appears knowledgeable. Hopefully I don't end up yelling at her after hours like I did my last vet.
