It's official

It's on the web. That must mean it's official. Right?

Sorry I forgot myself for a moment.

Friday night Dezi, her parents, and myself drove down to Ennis to see Ira Bedford and Bustin Loose.

The trip was fine. Unfortunately I developed a pretty nasty headache Friday evening. I took a lot of medicine, but it barely put a dent in my headache. Let me tell you, being in a loud bar with a bad headache is not where you want to be. We danced a little. Actually a total of 3 songs. (By the way, cymbals are evil. I mean REALLY evil.) When the band took a set break we talked to Ira and were pretty happy with it all. I could catch about every other word over the ruckus, but everyone agreed they would be a lot of fun.

  • Cymbals are especially evil if you have a bad headache and you are the one playing the cymbals! Ouch!

  • Ah, but how well do you really know David ?

I give you 3 years and you will be divorced.

Promise not to fight over custody of the children.

  • You know, I think that's an incredibly mean thing to say. And since you didn't tell me who you are, I have no idea how to respond except for responding to your comment.

Neither of us are taking this step lightly. We will have been a couple for almost three years when we get married. Do I know what I'm getting myself into? Absolutely not. I wish I could say with certainty that I do, but the truth of the matter everyone takes a leap of faith with almost any journey in life. Even getting out of bed in the morning can require a leap of faith some days.

If you wish to discuss this with me further, please at least give the coutesy of telling me your name before you pass judgement over the rest of our lives.

I understand the typical cynical view and statistically you would be correct. Roughly 60% of marriages do not make it past the first 2 years. (I'm pulling facts out of the air since I don't know the exact numbers) However, I would like to say that Desiree and I are committed to making this marriage work. While neither one of us is a perfect person, I think we make a pretty damned formidable team.

And now I'm going to go back to work and realize that ignorance may be it's own reward but hard work, perseverance, and dedication lead to far greater rewards.
