The Misadventures Continue!

On Sunday, Mom and I met up with the organist at St. Andrew to do an organ consult. I had e-mailed him my list of songs that I wanted played, and we had talked over the phone a bit as well. Having years of piano lessons under my belt and a good knowledge of the classical and operatic literature definitely helped me in picking out our ceremony music. I knew how all of the songs sounded, having played them myself, but wanted to hear them on the beautiful pipe organ.

Anywho, so Mom and I met up at the church, then went in to the sanctuary. I introduced myself and Mom, and we sat down next to the organ. He went through and played excerpts from each song. We decided to have the chiming of the hour. (The reason I wanted that has to do with an inside joke between Becky and I.) Mom was excited to hear the piece that she would be walking down the aisle to. Then it was the bridesmaids' song, and finally it was the song that Dad and I would walk in to.

As he started the fanfare and the opening chords, I had goosebumps on my arms. It sounded exactly the way that I had pictured it sounding when we first picked this church to get married in. The song that I'm walking down the aisle to is not a traditional piece that you hear at weddings, but it is one that I have wanted for a long time, and everyone who knows me will understand why I chose it, and will probably recognize it as well. All I know is that it sounded magnificent on that organ!!!
