The Directors!

Last night was the youth dinner theatre at church. David and I had attended most of the rehearsals, I was in charge of photography and he was in charge of videography. Well, we had some suggestions for the kids (e.g. enunciation, mannerisms, etc.), which they did use. The past few rehearsals, David & I were basically telling the kids what to do and all that jazz.

We had been asked to arrive early and get the kids to run through the show. After doing so, we took our seats in the sanctuary. Upon perusing the playbill, there was a listing of people to thank. Imagine our surprise and amusement when I saw that David & I were listed as the directors! We both thought it was funny. I guess if we attend rehearsals and tell the kids what to do, then that qualifies us as directors. Who knew? I thought I was the photographer who was making suggestions!

Seriously, though. David & I talked about it, and if we had been asked in the beginning to direct, we would have probably said no, that we didn't know how to direct. Well, apparently we do. The kids did a fantabulous job last night, only a few flubs, and I'm not sure anyone besides the kids, David, Leanne & I knew where they were. The neat part was at the end, a couple of the kids brought out two bouquets, one for Leanne and one for me! How cool is that? I also had lotsa people come up and tell me what a great job the kids did, how much they enjoyed the show, and what a great job we did with the kids. Yay! That really made me feel good.

You know, I am glad to be finished with the rehearsals, now I just need to make the pictoral slide show! I am also excited about possibly directing again next year. It was fun! We shall see.
