Easter Sunday
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday! We have always gone to visit with my dad's relatives on Easter. Everyone brings a dish, then sometime in the afternoon, there's a big Easter egg hunt for the kids. I remember when I was growing up, I always had a fancy Easter dress, usually made by Mom, and sometimes with a matching hat. That was the day the white shoes came out, the socks with the lace on them and my fancy dress.
Nowadays, everyone wears jeans to Easter. While it is not as formal as it once was, it is still a time of visiting with the family. I decided a couple of weeks ago to make cookies as our contribution for the meal. I had originally wanted to find decorated sugar cookies. No luck on that, my second choice was to decorate cookies myself. As I envisioned the kitchen being an absolute mess afterwards, I nixed that idea.
I finally decided on chocolate chip cookies, with the pastel M&Ms in them. I, of course, couldn't find any plain pastel M&Ms to put in the cookies. Oh well, chocolate chip cookies are still good by themself. Mom had the idea of putting the cookies in an Easter basket. David saw an ad for Party City (or whatever it's called) that had baskets on sale. I found a cute basket, spread out a napkin, tomorrow I'll add the cookies and be set!
I'm really looking forward to Easter. I remember this time last year, I had just had my first shower and was getting ready to have my bridal portraits done. It seems like such a long time ago! It has gone by so fast, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!
